Hello!
I'm Elizabeth LaGoy. I am usually referred to as Ms. LaGoy or Ms. L from my students. I have been interning with Cockeysville Middle School in inclusion and self-contained classrooms with 7th and 8th graders. I teach 7th grade Pre-Algebra and Math 8. I am currently in the fall semester of my senior year at Towson University. I will be receiving my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle School Special Education in May 2017.
I designed this website for a Service Learning Project I had to complete for my internship. After talking with administrators and other teachers, we came to the decision that I would base my project on middle school mathematics. I decided to combine videos from the internet, videos I created, and other references to help students learn or review different math concepts. Each week I keep up with what the students are learning and add to the webpage.
In the videos I made, I show students different techniques they can use at home and in school, that may strengthen their understanding in math. I teach them how to use different manipulatives such as; number lines, base ten blocks, and counter chips. Other strategies are; highlighting important details in word problems, divisibility rules, PEMDAS, and KFC.
Please enjoy this resource whether you're a student or parent of a student. Sometimes we need different tools in order to succeed and I hope I made those tools easy for you to access and understand. My goal in life is to be a well rounded teacher and to help improves students lives and learning in anyway I can. Feel free to contact me with suggestions, comments, questions, or concerns.
